Mission & Aims

We develop highly competent, professional, and resilient pediatricians committed to improving the health of children and adolescents in Kansas and around the world as general pediatricians and through preparation for fellowship training.

  • We train pediatricians to serve in underserved Kansas communities, capable of providing broad-spectrum care and proficient in stabilizing critically ill neonates, infants, and children. These pediatricians are prepared to be a local pediatric expert for other health care providers.
  • We train pediatricians to be prepared for further education in fellowships in their areas of interest.
  • We train pediatricians to be capable of improving healthcare value by championing patient safety, leading process improvement to promote evidence-based medicine and respecting fiscal stewardship in healthcare. We train pediatricians to be leaders and advocates for vulnerable children in the community, including those with complex physical and mental health problems.
  • We train pediatricians to care for themselves and to be attentive to their own physical and mental well-being.
