Electives for Medical Students

Two- or four-week electives are offered for traditional visiting students in the fourth year of medical school. Surgery electives at the University of Kansas School of Medicine-Wichita include:

  • General Surgery
  • Cardiothoracic Surgery
  • Burn/Critical Care
  • Vascular Surgery
  • Trauma
  • Breast Surgery

Some General Surgery rotations will include special focus on specialties such as colorectal, endocrine or surgical oncology.

You can apply for electives through the Visiting Student Application System (VSAS). Contact Jennifer Bishop in the Surgery Education office at 316-268-5990 or email for any questions and information on applying for an elective in the department of surgery.
