Wichita Initiative to Renew the Environment

Led by the University of Kansas School of Medicine-Wichita, the Wichita Initiative to Renew the Environment (WIRE) is a community-based initiative focused on identifying and addressing environmental concerns in Wichita. The project is funded through a cooperative agreement with the United States Environmental Protections Agency.

WIRE is a grassroots initiative in collaboration with citizens, neighborhood groups, community leaders, businesses, and government to identify environmental concerns and work toward improving our local community.

WIRE is currently focusing on 4 issues:

Vehicular Air Emissions

Arkansas River Water Quality

Poor Waste Management

Enhancing the ELC
