Peer Teaching Assessment

The Instruments

Because didactic teaching and clinical teaching require different skills, two instruments for assessment have been developed.

The Classroom Teaching Observation Tool is designed for providing feedback to faculty regarding their classroom teaching or lecturing skills.

The Clinical Teaching Observation Tool  is designed to provide for feedback on teaching rounds or teaching in the clinic. Clinical teaching may occur with groups on rounds or one-on-one in the clinic. The instrument will work for either situation, but observers are cautioned that every item may not pertain to each situation.

Faculty are encouraged to review the teaching observation tools whether or not they participate in a peer teaching assessment activity in order to reflect on their own teaching skills.
