The Case

Eleven months later, this same patient...

  • Obtained lab from a hospital fair and found out his hemoglobin was 9.5.
  • The MCV was 75, RDW was 18, and the blood count from 11 months prior was normal.
  • He also said that he had experienced dyspnea on exertion for the last few weeks and a family member had told him, "You look really pale!"
  • On physical exam, he did look pale with conjuctival parlor.
  • Stool guiac was negative.
