Case #2

The Case

Our patient had...

  • A positive treadmill test
  • An angiography that was positive
  • A CABG with aortic valve replacement.
  • On a follow up visit, the total cholesterol is 212, LDL 147, HDL 47, and triglycerides 125.

The Clinician's Thoughts

  • I know a patient with coronary artery disease should be placed on an HMG Co-A reductase inhibitor.
  • The national cholesterol education panel (NCEP) recommends that the LDL be less than 100.
  • I wonder how effective it really is?
