Standardized Patient Program

Welcome to the home page for the Standardized Patient Program of the KU School of Medicine at Wichita.  This website is designed to be a practical resource for students, faculty and community members participating in the Standardized Patient Program.

The General Information section contains pages that describe our program and and the services it offers.

The Student Information section contains pages designed to help students prepare for the standardized patient encounters they will see in their clerkships as well as on formal assessments.  Current pages include information necessary for success in encounters, a post-encounter note guide which provides information on writing a high quality document for the notes that follow encounters, and information on the Objective Structured Clinical Exam, Clinical Skills Assessment, and USMLE Step II-CS exam.

The SP Information section contains pages designed for people interested in becoming standardized patients.  There is information on just what standardized patients are and what role they play in the education of medical students, what is expected of them, and how to become a standardized patient.

We are in the process of updating our web pages, and more information will be added.  The student and SP sections will be expanded, and a special section aimed at assisting faculty to use SP encounters as an integrated part of their teaching will also be added.

Thank you very much for visiting our site, and we hope that it is clear and helpful!
