All examinations are checked with appropriate staff radiologists before final dictation. The residents will initially be closely supervised in their day-to-day activities, and over time will gradually be given more autonomy within the department. The purpose of the gradual increase in responsibilities is to assure that the residents will be self-sufficient by the time they complete their training.
AFIP is the Radiologic Pathology course offered by the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology located in Washington, D.C. Each resident attends the four week course during the third year. Registration is provided in addition to a stipend to assist with expenses while attending AFIP.
