Process of Residency Selection and Qualifying Criteria
Our resident selection process uses ERAS (Electronic Residency Application System). We will accept only ERAS applications through this system. We will be accepting applications until November 15, 2007. No other applications are accepted.
Eligibility
Prospective candidates for positions in residency training at the University of Kansas School of Medicine-Wichita must meet one of the following qualifying criteria to be considered for a position:

Graduates of US or Canadian medical schools accredited by the Liaison Committee for Medical Education (LCME).

Graduates of US colleges of osteopathic medicine accredited by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA).

Graduates of medical schools outside of the US or Canada who are certified by the Educational Commission of Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) and meet one of the following criteria:
a. Have US citizenship
b. Have permanent legal residency status in the US (green card)
c. Have or be eligible to hold a J-1 Clinical Visa sponsored by ECFMG
Program Screening Criteria and Procedures
The resident selection and screening process is administered by the Residency Review and Recruitment Committee (RRRC) which is composed of faculty and chief resident.
Applicants are systematically screened using the following criteria: Candidates are to submit a completed application form along with a personal statement showing clear evidence of a progressive development of interest in the practice of psychiatry. This must include at least two months of clinical experience in psychiatry in the United States.
Applicants from non-US medical schools must receive USMLE scores 187 (78) for Step 1 and 186 (78) for Step 2 as well as have passed the English examination and clinical skills assessment (CSA). Such applicants must be able to document medical education or clinical practice within the previous two years before application.
A completed application file should also include a letter from the Dean of the medical school, three letters of recommendation, and medical school transcript. Based on the information submitted, interviews are offered during the months of October, November, December, and January and match lists are submitted to the National Residency Matching Program in February.
