Visiting Student Scholarship

This Senior Scholarship from the University of Kansas School of Medicine-Wichita Department of Pediatrics is for three non-KU visiting senior medical students per year from medical schools in the United States to complete a rotation during their fourth year of medical school at KU Wichita. The scholarship includes a $2,000 stipend to offset the costs of travel and room and board during the rotation. Preference will be given to academically high-achieving students with ties to the Midwest.

The rotation will be four weeks long, and it is advisable for applicants to choose as many possible dates as are feasible, indicating first, second and third choices for the rotation. Possible dates include the following:

  • July 1 - July 27, 2019 (limited availability)
  • July 29 - August 24, 2019
  • August 26 - September 21, 2019
  • September 23 - October 19, 2019
  • October 21 - November 16, 2019
  • November 18 - December 14, 2019

Possible rotations for this scholarship in pediatrics include the following:

  • Pediatric Intensive Care Unit
  • Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
  • Pediatric Infectious Diseases
  • Pediatric Cardiology
  • Pediatric Hematology/Oncology
  • Pediatric Neurology (limited availability)
  • Pediatric Pulmonology
  • Genetics
  • Ambulatory Pediatrics
  • Sub-I / Inpatient Pediatrics

Some rotations will be full or unavailable at the requested time, so it is advisable for applicants to choose several rotation options, indicating first, second and third choices for the rotation.
