The Wichita area offers the amenities of larger cities with the friendliness and personal warmth of smaller communities in mid-america.
With an area population in excess of 500,000, Wichita is the largest city in Kansas. Known as the air capital of the world, the city houses airplane manufacturers Boeing, Cessna, Bombardier Aerospace and Raytheon.
Health care is Wichita’s second largest employer, providing many opportunities for practicing physicians. Wichita offers clean air, affordable housing, quality schools (including a state university and two liberal arts colleges), several nursing and allied health education programs, fine restaurants, city parks and an excellent, nationally recognized zoo. Cultural activities include art museums, ballet, symphony, music and dinner theaters.
The largest and most well-attended community event of the year is the Wichita River Festival, a week-long city celebration with many activities including the River Run, an event that attracts runners from across the United States.
Sporting events offered in Wichita include games played by the Wichita State University Shockers, Wichita Stealth professional arenafootball, Wichita Wranglers professional minor league baseball and Wichita Thunder professional hockey team.
Located in the heartland of america, Wichita is within a few hours driving time to Kansas City, Tulsa and Oklahoma City. Wichita is also just a day’s drive or less from Dallas to the south, Denver and the breathtaking Rocky Mountains to the west, and the beautiful Ozark Mountain region to the east.
Surrounding Wichita, and throughout Kansas, are numerous lakes and rivers offering a full range of outdoor activities. In addition, many fascinating historical sites are located in the Wichita area and across the state.
