Vacation: (Non-cumulative)

Education Leave: (Non-cumulative)
Residents receive up to 5 weekdays of education leave annually, with approval of the Program Director.

Sick Leave: (Cumulative up to a maximum of 30 days)
Residents receive 10 weekdays with pay, annually for absence due to sick leave. Sick leave is defined as absence due to illness or health maintenance needs of the resident or their dependents. The program director will determine whether or not make-up service and education are necessary in order to certify credit for the residency year. Need for additional time off, without pay, will be considered on an individual basis.

Maternity/Paternity Leave:
While there is no current separate policy for maternity/paternity leave, residents may take up to a maximum of three months per FMLA. Time will initially be deducted from vacation and sick days, then transitioning to unpaid leave. Our program is very flexible in scheduling to allow for maternity/paternity leave. The program director will determine whether or not make-up service and education are necessary in order to certify credit for the residency year.

Retreats and Social Gatherings

Bi-annual pediatric/med-peds retreats are held in the spring and fall of each year. Pediatric Interest Group (PIG) events are held bi-monthly throughout the year.  Social gatherings with all WCGME residency programs are hosted on the first Fridays of each month.  Many more informal gatherings occur regularly!
