Videoconferencing is the process of communicating between
distant sites through the use of video cameras, monitors,
microphones and speakers using communication links.
Videoconferencing
Videoconferencing is intended for groups ranging from just a
few participants to a large number of participants. High quality
camera and microphone units, along with large video monitors and
speaker systems enable audio and video communications with a single
or multiple distant sites. Audio-video signals are transmitted at
digital speeds of 384 Kbps over special phone lines (ISDN) or
special networks. Document camera images, videotape images, slides
and other media can be communicated via this system along with
PowerPoint presentations.
The Wichita Room serves as the primary videoconferencing
classroom. A small group videoconferencing area is in the Great
Plains Room and Roberts Amphitheater serve as the large group
videoconferencing facility. Videoconferencing can also be scheduled
in the Great Plains, Santa Fe, Meadow Lark and Sunflower Rooms with
the use of a portable videoconferencing system.
