A
satellite program reception system is available at the KUSM-W
facility. This system is capable of receiving educational and
informational programming that is transmitted from any one of a
large number of C-band and KU-band satellites. Satellite
programming can be viewed in several KUSM-W rooms depending on the
number of participants. These rooms include the Great Plains Room,
Santa Fe Room, Sunflower Room, Meadowlark Room, and Roberts
Amphitheater. Large screen monitors or projectors and sound systems
are available. Telephone and fax service is also available to
facilitate interactive communications with the program transmission
site.
Notice of upcoming satellite programs are normally published in
medical and professional journals well in advance of transmission
dates. Programs can be videotaped with sponsor's permission.
Requests for scheduling satellite sessions should be made through
Information Technology Services Services (call
293-2605). Some of the more important scheduling information
requirements are:
- Date and time of session(s)
- Estimated number of participants (to determine size of
room)
- Identification of satellite transmitting source
Service fees may be assessed.
