The Medical Sciences Department will work collaboratively with its partners to establish a national model for medical education that provides physicians for the 21st century for Kansas and beyond who effectively work in health care teams and who strive for excellence in lifelong learning to promote the health of those in their care.
To support medical education on the Wichita Campus with special emphasis on the first and second years; to enhance the integration of scientific concepts into the medical education of all students and residents; and to contribute to the growing research enterprise on the Wichita Campus.
About the Medical Sciences Department
Medical Sciences faculty have primary responsibility for the delivery of the first and second years of the medical school curriculum at the KU School of Medicine–Wichita. The Department is comprised of the basic domains of the medical sciences - anatomy, biochemistry, physiology, microbiology, pharmacology, and neuroscience. Our faculty work closely with faculty at the KU School of Medicine in Kansas City to ensure that students on both campuses receive a superior medical education.
