ABI INFORM provides abstracts of articles from international professional publications, academic journals, and trade magazines covering business and management topics. Full text is available for some articles.

AccessMedicine provides a collection of full text books which are available to affiliates of KUSM-W while at the campus or with VPN or dial up access. This collection includes the Lange Educational series on various subject categories. It also provides study questions in the Lange Assessment Tool if you sign up for a free password.
AGELINE abstracts the literature of social gerontology as well as aging-related research from psychology, sociology, social work, economics, public policy, and the health sciences. Materials include journal articles, books and chapters, research reports, dissertations, gray literature, and educational videos from many publishers and organizations.

AGRICOLA (AGRICultural OnLine Access) is a database of bibliographic records created by the National Agricultural Library. It covers materials dating from the 16th century to the present. The records describe publications and resources encompassing all aspects of agriculture and allied disciplines, including plant and animal sciences, forestry, entomology, soil and water resources, agricultural economics, agricultural engineering, agricultural products, alternative farming practices, and food and nutrition. Auxiliary subjects that support NAL's Information Center activities, such as agricultural trade and marketing, rural information, and animal welfare, are also included. Books and journal articles are indexed.

CDC Wonder provides a single point of access to a variety of CDC reports, recommendations, and numeric public health data and statistics. Topics include AIDS, sexually transmitted disease, accidents, morality & morbidity reports and vaccines, among others. Categories include chronic diseases, communicable diseases, environmental health, health practice and prevention, injury prevention, occupational health, and reference data.
ChemID is a free, web-based search system that provides access to structure and nomenclature authority files used for the identification of chemical substances cited in National Library of Medicine (NLM) databases and other external resources available on the Internet. ChemIDplus also provides structure searching and direct links to many biomedical resources for chemicals of interest. The database contains over 368,000 chemical records, of which over 177,000 include chemical structures. It is searchable by Name & Synonym, CAS Registry Number, Molecular Formula, Classification Code, Locator Code, and Structure.
For users who do not need to search by structure, the new ChemIDplus Lite version is available. This allows searching the ChemIDplus database by Name or CAS Registry Number, and retrieval of the appropriate record. All structures are displayed as GIF images, so no plugin or applet is required to use the Lite version.
CHID (Combined Health Information Database) is produced by several health-related agencies of the Federal Government. This database provides titles, abstracts, and availability information for health promotion information and health education resources.

CINAHL (Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature) provides access to English-language nursing journals, publications from the American Nurses' Association and the National League for Nursing, and primary journals from allied health disciplines (cardiopulmonary technology, communicative disorders, emergency services, health education, medical/laboratory technology, medical assistant, medical records, nutrition, occupational therapy, physical therapy/rehabilitation, physician's assistant, podiatry, radiologic technology, respiratory therapy, social service in health care, and surgical technology). In addition, CINAHL includes pertinent articles from the biomedical, education, behavioral science, management, and popular literature. CINAHL also offers coverage of materials dealing with health sciences librarianship and the online industry. More than 300 serial publications are regularly reviewed and included. Selected nursing and allied health-related books are included as well. CINAHL, is available via OVID only to KUMC affiliates.

ClinicalTrials.gov provides regularly updated information about federally and privately supported clinical research in human volunteers. ClinicalTrials.gov gives information about a trial's purpose, who may participate, locations, and phone numbers for more details.
The Cochrane Library is a family of databases designed to provide evidence to help health care providers decide on the best treatment for a condition or disease by identifying all controlled trials of interventions for a particular condition and reviewing the results to see which work best. The Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews: regularly updated collection of full text systematic reviews of the effects of health care interventions.
The Database of Abstracts of Reviews of Effectiveness: critical assessments of systematic reviews done by groups outside the Cochrane Collaboration. Abstracts only.
The Cochrane Controlled Trials Register: a vast compendium of citations and abstracts of controlled trials.

Columbia Encyclopedia, 6th ed. contains nearly 51,000 entries on a vast range of topics and with more than 80,000 hypertext cross-references. It is part of the Bartleby.com online books collection.
Columbia World of Quotations contains 65,000 quotations drawn from more than 5,000 authors and speakers. The quotations are classified into 6,500 subjects. The book part of the Bartleby.com online books collection.
Computer Database (InfoTrac) Full text, abstracts, and references for computer-related articles from newsstand and trade publications, covering all aspects of computers, peripherals, software, semiconductors, communications, and telecommunications. Articles include product announcements, hands-on product reviews, technical advice, tutorials, buyers guides, and company profiles.

CRISP (Computer Retrieval of Information on Scientific Projects) is a searchable database of federally funded biomedical research projects conducted at universities, hospitals, and other research institutions.
DIRLINE (Directory of Information Resources Online) is an online directory of over 8,400 health-related organizations and other resources which are willing to respond to public inquiries in their specialty areas, including toxicology and environmental health organizations.
DynaMed
DynaMed is a clinical reference tool created for physicians and other health care professionals for use primarily at the “point-of-care.” It provides clinically-organized summaries for nearly 2,000 topics.
DynaMed is updated daily and monitors the content of over 500 medical journals and systematic evidence review databases directly and indirectly by using many journal review services. Each publication is reviewed cover-to-cover, and each article is evaluated for clinical relevance and scientific validity.
Entrez is the integrated, text-based search and retrieval system used at NCBI for the major databases, including PubMed, Nucleotide and Protein Sequences, Protein Structures, Complete Genomes, Taxonomy, and others.
ERIC is an information system sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education that generates the U.S. national bibliographic database covering the literature of education. ERIC contains annotated references to nonjournal material issued in the monthly Resources in Education (RIE) and to journal articles issued in the monthly Current Index to Journals in Education (CIJE). Some full text is available. ERIC is available through FirstSearch and through the Department of Education’s ERIC site.

Firstgov is the official U.S. gateway to all government information. On FirstGov, you can search millions of web pages from federal and state governments, the District of Columbia and U.S. territories. Most of these pages are not available on commercial websites.
FREIDA (Fellowship and Residency Electronic Interactive Database Access System) is a directory designed to provide general and detailed information on all ACGME accredited graduate medical education programs. The data has been collected by the American Medical Association (AMA) from surveys of graduate medical education programs and affiliated institutions. FREIDA is available free via the AMA's WWW site.
Genetics Home Reference is the National Library of Medicine's web site for consumer information about genetic conditions and the genes or chromosomes responsible for those conditions.
GPO (FirstSearch) indexes U.S. government documents, including Congressional reports, hearings, debates, and records; judiciary materials; and documents issued by executive departments (Defense, State, Labor, Office of the President, etc.). No full text.

GPO (GPO Access U.S. Government Bookstore) indexes and allows purchase of government documents on a huge variety of topics, including budget, legislation, history, agriculture, etc.
GPO Access is a service of the U.S. Government Printing Office that provides free electronic access to a wealth of important information products produced by all branches of the federal government. It links to full text of budgets, congressional bills, legislation, and much more. The information provided on this site is the official, published version and the information retrieved from GPO Access can be used without restriction, unless specifically noted.
GrayLit Network makes the gray literature of U.S. Federal Agencies easily accessible over the Internet. It taps into the search engines of distributed gray literature collections, enabling the user to find information without first having to know the sponsoring agency. The Department of Energy (DOE) provides public access to this research tool through GPO Access in partnership with the Government Printing Office. Federal Agencies participating in this project are DOD/DTIC, DOE, EPA, and NASA.
Grey Literature (New York Academy of Medicine) provides links to full text sources of the grey literature in the fields of health policy and public health.
Guide to Clinical Preventive Services (U.S. Preventive Services Task Force) An independent panel of experts in primary care and prevention systematically reviews the evidence of effectiveness and develops recommendations for clinical preventive services.
Health Reference Center (InfoTrac) provides access to more than 40 full text nursing and allied health journals, plus hundreds of consumer health journals, newsletters, pamphlets, reference books, and selected health-related articles from 1500 general interest magazines.

Health Business Fulltext Elite (EBSCO) provides journal content detailing all aspects of health care administration and other non-clinical aspects of health care institution management. Topics covered include hospital management, hospital administration, marketing, human resources, computer technology, facilities management and insurance. Health Business Elite contains full text content from nearly 460 journals. Full text information in this database dates as far back as 1965, and in some cases, earlier.

It includes clinical practice guidelines, quick-reference guides for clinicians, consumer brochures, and evidence reports sponsored by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), CDC Guide to Clinical Preventive Services (Task Force on Community Preventive Services), Guide to Community Preventive Services, NIH Consensus Development Conference Reports, and Reports of the Surgeon General.
IBIDS (International Bibliographic Information on Dietary Supplements) provides access to bibliographic citations and abstracts from published, international, and scientific literature on dietary supplements. Users can choose to search the Full IBIDS Database, a subset of Consumer Citations Only or Peer Reviewed Citations Only.

IPA (International Pharmaceutical Abstracts) covers clinical and technical drug information, pharmacy practice, pharmaceutical education, and legal aspects of pharmacy and drugs. IPA is produced by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP). ASHP scans over 750 journals published worldwide for information to be added to IPA. In 1988, IPA began including abstracts of papers presented at ASHP's major meetings, and now also includes presentation abstracts from the APhA and AACP annual meetings. All U.S. state pharmacy journals are included, as well as most publications on cosmetics. IPA is available via OVID only to KUMC affiliates.

Medicine in Quotations Online Containing over 3000 entries, Medicine in Quotations is the most comprehensive collection of its type published in over 30 years. Quotations are organized by topic, and each is fully referenced, allowing curious readers return to the original source. Subject and author indices make it easy to find quotations of interest.

Nutrition.gov provides easy access to the best food and nutrition information from across the federal government. It serves as a gateway to reliable information on nutrition, healthy eating, physical activity, and food safety for consumers, educators and health professionals.
OMIM (Online Mendelian Inheritance in Man) is a catalog of human genes and genetic disorders authored and edited by Dr. Victor A. McKusick and his colleagues at Johns Hopkins and elsewhere, and developed for the World Wide Web by NCBI, the National Center for Biotechnology Information. The database contains textual information and references. It also contains links to MEDLINE and sequence records in the Entrez system, and links to additional related resources at NCBI and elsewhere.

PEDro is the Physiotherapy Evidence Database. It has been developed to give rapid access to bibliographic details and abstracts of randomised controlled trials, systematic reviews and evidence-based clinical practice guidelines in physiotherapy. Most trials on the database have been rated for quality to help identify trials which are likely to be valid and interpretable.

PDQ (Physician Data Query) is NCI's comprehensive cancer database. It contains peer-reviewed summaries on cancer treatment, screening, prevention, genetics, and supportive care, and complementary and alternative medicine; a registry of approximately 2,000 open and 13,000 closed cancer clinical trials from around the world; and directories of physicians, professionals who provide genetics services, and organizations that provide cancer care.

Serials covers over 1300 journals in more than 30 languages from approximately
50 countries. The PsycINFO Chapters/Books database contains summaries
of
English-language chapters and books in psychology and related disciplines
published worldwide. To integrate behavioral articles, books and book
chapters from other fields, PsycINFO scans publications from related
disciplines
such as sociology, linguistics, medicine, law, physiology, business,
psychiatry, and anthropology.

PubMed, a service of the National Library of Medicine, includes more than 15 million citations for biomedical articles back to the 1950’s. It provides links to many sites with full text articles, full text books, genetics information, and other related resources.
REHABDATA focuses on disability and rehabilitation. The main file, 1997-present, describes over 12,000 documents covering physical, mental, and psychiatric disabilities, independent living, vocational rehabilitation, special education, assistive technology, law, employment, and other issues as they relate to people with disabilities. The types of documents described in REHABDATA include research reports, books, journal articles, and audiovisual materials. A backfile covering 1956-1996 is also available. REHABDATA is produced by the National Rehabilitation Information Center.

SPIRAL (Selected Patient Information Resources in Asian Languages) is a web site developed at Tufts University’s Health Sciences Library with detailed health information in seven Asian languages: Chinese, Hmong, Khmer, Korean, Laotian, Thai, and Vietnamese. It contains information for both physician and patient.
24 Languages Electronic access to over 200 health education brochures and sound recordings in 24 different languages. This is a project of the Spencer S. Eccles Health Sciences Library, in partnership with the Utah Dept of Health, the Immunization Action Coalition, AAPCHO, and many others to improve access to health materials in multiple languages.
Toxline is a bibliographic database which provides an extensive array of references to literature on biochemical, pharmacological, physiological, and toxicological effects of drugs and other chemicals.
TOXNET is a family of databases and databanks on toxicology, hazardous chemicals, and related areas. It includes HSDB, IRIS, CCRIS, ITER, GENE-TOX, TRI, TOXLINE, DART/ETIC. In addition to links to other NLM resources, it also provides links to user support pages with FAQs, manuals, and database descriptions.
UpToDate is a clinical electronic reference designed to provide current answers to patient care, diagnosis and treatment questions at the point of care. It is written and updated frequently by a recognized faculty of 2900 experts from leading institutions. UpToDate is available to affiliates who use KUSM-W as their internet provider.
U.S. Patent and Trademark Office provides search access to files of patents and trademarks.
USDA National Nutrient Database for Standard Reference provides access to Release 17 of the database. You can either view the data or download the data files and documentation in several different formats for use later on your computer. A search tool is also provided so you can look up the nutrient content of 6839 different foods directly from this page.
Web of Science indexes the literature from approximiately 8500 journals in the sciences, social sciences, and humanities. The indexing allows searches for specific articles by subject, author, journal, and/or author address. The Cited Reference Search is a popular option which retrieves articles that cite a known author or article. Searchable databases include: Science Citation Index, Social Sciences Citation Index and Arts & Humanities Citation Index.
