Uniform Requirements for Manuscripts Submitted to Biomedical Journals
The International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) concerns itself with ethical principles related to publication in biomedical journals. Journals may use the Uniform Requirements format of the ICMJE. This format is also called the Vancouver Style. The Uniform Requirements state the ethical principles in the conduct and reporting of research and provide recommendations relating to specific elements of editing and writing.

Journal Impact Factors
What is an Impact Factor?
A method developed by Thomson Scientific ISI Web of Knowledge for rating selected journals according to how many times their articles are cited by other articles
To look for journal Impact Factors, go to the Web of Science database:
From http://wichita.kumc.edu (the KUSM-W home page)
- Click Library Resources, then Databases, then Databases on the Web
- Click Web of Science, then click Web of Science again, which takes you to ISI Web of Knowledge/ Web of Science.
- Click Additional Resources (yellow tab), then click Journal Citation Reports.
- Then you may choose to "Search for a specific journal" and type your journal title of interest into the search box.
- Your search may return results with an Impact Factor score or it may find nothing for that title.
To see the results for a title that is present in the Journal Citation Reports, search for Science or New England Journal of Medicine
