The Leadership Journey program is centered on helping current leaders (managers, directors, supervisors, administrative officers) achieve specific business outcomes by incorporating the best in managerial leadership theory, practice and application. The program promotes and supports new and innovative ways to reach our shared organizational vision and objectives.
In support of the overall mission of KUSM-W, we seek to provide an environment where pride, respect, engagement and excellence are cornerstone. In order to achieve the mission, goals and objectives of the school, the human resources department coordinates a comprehensive program designed to develop and enhance managerial leadership. The success of this program relies on a partnership between the human resources department, executive management, managers and their teams.
The Leadership Journey program is a strengths-based program that focuses on developing individual leadership and managerial excellence.

There are five learning sessions for this program. Each session is two hours long and includes presentation, discussion, activities and some “homework.”
A Strengths-Based Approach to Leading Others
Examine the findings of a landmark research effort aimed at identifying the components of a great place to work.
Talents, Non-Talents, Strengths and Weaknesses
Draw on the results of your assessments and incorporates a discussion of understanding themes and managing role weaknesses.
Employee Engagement Essentials
Review the fundamental four questions that all employees ask, explore each of the questions; contrast those questions to the 18 survey questions and create action plans for each survey question.
One Employee at a Time
Compare and contrast the three employee engagement levels, build action plans for each employee and review our role as a coach.
Guidelines for Great Managers
Explore the “great companies” as defined by research studies, build a list of steps to take to be great manager and apply those “great” steps to our lives as managers at the school of medicine.
