“Country Life, and Things Like That,” 13 oil paintings by Donna Royse, will be displayed February 4 - March 25, in the William J. Reals Gallery of Art-East at the University of Kansas School of Medicine-Wichita. There will be a public reception, 2:30-3:15 p.m., Friday, Feb. 4, in the gallery area. Royse, a practicing local artist, was born and reared on a Kansas farm, and that rural background is reflected in much of her work. Although she paints a variety of subjects, she prefers scenes from her childhood. The exhibition, which is free and open to the public, is available during regular gallery hours, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. The building is closed to the public Saturdays and Sundays. The University of Kansas School of Medicine-Wichita is nationally recognized as a pioneer in community-oriented medical education. Since the first class graduated in 1975, more than 1,350 physicians have earned medical degrees. About half of these eventually established practices in the state, fulfilling KUSM-W’s promise, “We Educate Doctors For Kansas.” |
