“Different Strokes”

Bill and Marvel Nye

“Different Strokes,” 18 oil paintings by Bill Nye, and 16 calligraphy pieces by Marvel Nye, will open Friday, Nov. 15, in the William J. Reals Gallery of Art – East at the University of Kansas School of Medicine- Wichita. A public reception honoring the artists is 4 – 5:30 p.m., Friday, Nov. 15,
in the gallery area.

Bill Nye trained at art schools in New York and Chicago. He was an
illustrator and designer (1950-70) and in sales at McCormick Armstrong Co., in Wichita until his retirement in 1992. He has received awards for his art at shows in Dallas, Denver, Kansas City, Los Angeles and New York City, and the Wichita Art Museum has his work in its permanent collection.

Marvel Nye has been a calligrapher for more than 25 years, attending 22
international conferences in 10 states and Canada, and working with more than 50 outstanding instructors. She is a teacher at the Wichita Center for the Arts and does commissioned works for individuals and advertisers.

The exhibition, which is free and open to the public, is available during
regular gallery hours, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. The building is closed to the public Saturdays and Sundays.
