“Jo’s Gardens and Landscapes in Oil”

On display August 6 - September 24, 2004

Gallery East

A Sense of Place, oil paintings by Gene Marsh, MD

“Jo’s Gardens and Landscapes in Oil,” 12 oil paintings by Jo Laudermilk, will be displayed Aug. 6 - Sept. 24, in the William J. Reals Gallery of Art-East at the University of Kansas School of Medicine-Wichita. There will be a public reception, 2:30-3:15 p.m., Friday, Aug. 6, in the gallery area.

Laudermilk, president of the Kansas Academy of Art, began painting after she retired from Koch Industries where she had worked as a buyer. “Painting has provided me a release from the stresses in my life,” she says. “With painting, I have been able to lose myself on the canvas and focus my energies on the positive things in my life.”

The exhibition, which is free and open to the public, is available during regular gallery hours, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. The building is closed to the public Saturdays and Sundays.

The University of Kansas School of Medicine-Wichita is nationally recognized as a pioneer in community-based medical education. Since the first class graduated in 1975, nearly 1300 physicians have earned medical degrees here. About half of these eventually established practices in the state, fulfilling KUSM-W's promise, "We Educate Doctors to Serve Kansans."
