"Life in the Flint Hills" an exhibit by
“LIFE IN THE FLINT HILLS,” an exhibit by Cheryl Calvin will be presented August 3- September 28, 2007, in the William J. Reals Gallery of Art-East, at KUSM-W, 1010 N. Kansas. A public reception will be held, 2:30 – 3:15 p.m., Friday, August 3, in the gallery area. The exhibit is free and open to the public and will consist of 13 photographs taken of the Flint Hills over a two year period with some only a few months old. Calvin began her passion for photography at the age of 12 where she remembers taking several photos of her family, friends and pets. She grew up on a farm in northwestern Kansas in Rooks County with nine siblings who are also avid photographers. From 1997 to 2001, she worked for Sedgwick County as an intake counselor at the Juvenile Intake and Assessment Center, and later as the Juvenile Diversion Counselor at the District Attorney’s Office. Her first digital camera was purchased by her husband, David who recognized and admired her work and to date she has had several of her photos displayed on the www.Kansas.gov photo Website. The University of Kansas School of Medicine-Wichita is nationally recognized as a pioneer in community-oriented medical education. Since the first class graduated in 1975, 1,510 physicians have earned medical degrees. About half of these eventually established practices in the state, fulfilling KUSM-W’s promise of “Educating Doctors For Kansas.”
