"The
Way I See It" debuts Oct. 13, 2000
"The
Way I See It" will be on display Oct. 13 through Nov. 24
in the William J. Reals Gallery of Art-East at the University
of Kansas School of Medicine-Wichita, 1010 N. Kansas.
The
exhibit, by Opal Baker, consists of 20 pieces rendered in watercolor,
oil or pastels. Baker is a three-time winner in the Kansas Postcard
Competition as well as having paintings accepted in the Kansas
Watercolor Society annuals, and the Wichita Art Museum, the National
Small Oil Show and the Wichita Center for the Arts, among others.
"I
use watercolors, oils or pastels for these images, depending on
which medium I think will best convey the statement I wish to
make," said Baker. "My paintings are realistic, colorful
and painterly. I try to convey happiness and express my gratitude
for the privileges I enjoy."
The
exhibit is free and open to the public and may be viewed during
regular gallery hours, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
The exhibit is closed Saturday and Sunday.
