"Works in Oil" an exhibit by
“WORKS IN OIL” an exhibit by Skeet Sirmons, will be presented Feb. 2- March, 23, 2007, in the William J. Reals Gallery of Art-East, KUSM-W, 1010 N. Kansas. The exhibition will consist of approximately 14 oil paintings. There will be a public reception in the gallery area, 2:30-3:15 p.m., Friday, Feb. 2. The exhibit is free and open to the public. Sirmons, a self-taught artist from Wellington, Kan., devoted hours sharpening his skills at his kitchen table while other kids in his neighborhood were out playing. His musical interests include, director, of Choral Music at the First United Methodist Church in Wellington, Kan., and member of the local band, “Zebedees’s Blunder,” which plays an eclectic variety of acoustic music. He has three CD’s available, one of which, is a solo project of mostly original music. Sirmons says painting is about sharing a moment of God’s grace. The University of Kansas School of Medicine-Wichita is nationally recognized as a pioneer in community-oriented medical education. Since the first class graduated in 1975, 1,458 physicians have earned medical degrees. About half of these eventually established practices in the state, fulfilling KUSM-W’s promise of “Educating Doctors For Kansas.”
