Support Family and Community Medicine
Thank you for your interest in supporting the efforts of the KU School of Medicine-Wichita Department of Family and Community Medicine. Philanthropy plays a critical role for us to continue to be one of the top 10 departments in the nation producing family physicians. Specifically, we need additional support to enhance our students’ education outside the classroom, provide innovative professional development for our faculty and pull out all the stops to keep new doctors in Kansas – especially rural Kansas. Please see below to learn more and support these and other important initiatives.
Four ways your gift can help us toward our mission:
This fund honors Ernie Chaney, M.D., past president of the American Academy of Family Physicians. The fund supports medical student activities such as the nationally award winning KUSM-Wichita Family Medicine Interest Group and medical student attendance at the annual National Conference of Family Medicine Residents and Medical Students
This fund honors Anne Walling, MB ChB, who has transitioned from her role as associate dean for faculty development to professor emeritus status. The fund supports faculty development activities for young family physician faculty who are early in their academic careers. The fund helps these faculty become better teachers of residents and medical students.
This fund honors award-winning faculty member (and everyone’s favorite preceptor) John Dorsch, M.D., professor of Family and Community Medicine at KUSM-Wichita. The fund supports KUSM-Wichita medical students with an interest in rural medicine, such as the Rural Medicine Interest Group and attendance of students at the National Rural Health Association policy meeting.
The Department of Family and Community Medicine has a variety of other funds that support medical student and resident education activities. If you would like information on other funds or are interested in establishing a fund, please contact Brad Rukes, at email@example.com.
