| With natural gas and electric prices going up, it's up to each one of us to help conserve energy. Follow these simple tips... | |

Thermostat
Settings |
Winter
- 70° days and 60° nights/weekends/holidays. All
thermostats affecting business offices and public areas are kept at the
same temperatures.
Summer - 75° days and 85° nights/weekends/holidays. In summer months, the air conditioner shuts down after hours (7 p.m.-6 a.m.). |

When
necessary, you may use electric fans or space heaters as long as they are
energy efficient and pass fire safety inspection. Caution: Most space heaters sold today have standard safety features that older models do not. We recommend the use of radiant heaters. Facilities Management will inspect space heaters to determine safety when necessary. Do not leave space heaters on unattended. And, do not plug your heater into the outlet with your computer. |
|
If
you are away from your office more than an hour, TURN OFF THE LIGHTS.
There are occupancy sensors in the Flint Hills and Sunflower conference rooms, and in the restrooms. Any movement will turn on the lights. |

Some
of the biggest uses of electrical energy are the elevator motors. Whenever possible, use the stairs to provide exercise and sustain good health. |

Technology |
It is best to turn off the computer if you are gone longer than three hours. The computer sleep mode is not used on the Wichita campus. Shut down all printers at the end of the day. |
