There are several opportunities for Diagnostic Radiology moonlighting within the State of Kansas. Moonlighting will be allowed to third- and fourth-year residents, provided that it is approved by the program director. Eligible resident's total ACR In-Service Exam score must be greater than or equal to 60 percent. Moonlighting in other medical specialties will not be approved. Residents will need to provide their own malpractice coverage for these activities. Locum Tenens also must be approved by the Program Director.
Residents have their own library stocked with current radiology textbooks, ACR syllabi, and other board preparation references. The program provides up-to-date publications within the library. The ACR learning file is available both on CD-ROM and online to all residents. Resident library internet access is available on two desktop computers with T1 connections. Wesley Medical Center and KUSM-W have additional library facilities for resident use. Our residents have access to STATdx, and online database providing expert differential diagnoses and modality-specific anatomy. This is an extremely useful tool both late at night while on call and throughout the normal workday. Daily noon lectures are held in state-of-the-art conference rooms, which are equipped with audio-visual equipment, internet, and PACS access. The program also offers Rad Primer as an online resource for reading and ways to fine-tune skills and increase knowledge.
