of Kansas School of Medicine-Wichita (KUSM-W) offers faculty, staff,
students and residents an attractive campus where education, research,
and patient
care are a regular part of campus life.
As part of The University of Kansas
system,
KUSM-W is a premier community-oriented medical school. Its mission
is to educate students, residents, and physicians through scholarship,
patient care,
service, and research to improve the health of Kansans.
The
medical
school has more
than 100 full and part-time faculty members, 120 staff, and 800 volunteer
faculty physicians who assist students as they complete their medical
education. In
addition, the school sponsors 13 residency programs and oversees
more than 250 residents. The school works with two private hospital
systems and a
Department of Veterans Affairs hospital.

As a campus
of The University of Kansas Medical Center (Kansas City, KS) KUSM-W
is a leader in the education of medical students, residents and
physicians. In partnership with Kansas communities, faculty and staff
work to
improve the health of Kansans through scholarship, patient care,
service and research.
The school offers instruction in seven major
departments, including family and community medicine, internal
medicine, preventive medicine and public health, obstetrics/gynecology,
pediatrics,
psychiatry and behavioral sciences, and surgery. Programs in anesthesiology,
pathology and radiology are also offered.
Described as a “medical
school without walls,” the school graduates more than 50 physicians
annually, more than half of whom stay to practice in Kansas.
Affiliated
hospitals in Wichita are the Via Christi Regional Medical Center,
Wesley Medical Center, and the Robert J. Dole Department of Veterans
Affairs Medical and Regional Office Center.
