"The Birds and The Beasts" by Garrett Briggeman

From the very detailed to the wildly abstract, watercolor is the perfect medium for what Kansas artist Garrett Briggeman is trying to capture with his paintings. His most recent works are all centered throughout the animal kingdom. From birds and insects to the beasts that roam, these images touch on all things great and small. Capturing the mood of each creature is very important in conveying the tone of each piece. The look in the eye of one animal versus the screaming maul of another, is the main focus of each painting. Based out of Wichita, Garrett spends his time as a stay-at-home father of two, a musician and watercolor artist.

This exhibit will be on display in the William J. Reals Gallery of Art-West through April 30.

"A Collective" by Lily Frances Dooman

Wichita artist Lily Frances Dooman will exhibit a collection of her artworks from throughout her career in various media.

Lily Frances Dooman is a mixed-media artist and musician whose experience as a lifelong Kansan informs the organic feel of much of her work. Inspired and instructed in her youth by her artist father, she studied formally at Butler County and has exhibited work at the Wichita Center for the Arts and the Coutts Museum of Art in El Dorado. From painting and leather tooling to textiles, each of her works is bespoke and entirely unique.
